A Letter from our President

Dear Friends of OHS,

What an incredible year we history lovers have had in Omena with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Putnam-Cloud Tower House Museum and the creation of an endowment fund to support this beautiful building and to expand Omena Historical Society exhibits!

We hope you are enjoying the special edition of Timelines created in celebration of our 10th anniversary milestone. The before and after photos of the museum reminds us just how far we’ve come in creating a place to keep and maintain the history and the heritage of Omena.

These accomplishments wouldn’t have been possible without you!

As a member of the Omena Historical Society, your support has been and continues to be critical to our ongoing success in preserving the history of our village. Whether you have deep roots in the community going back several generations or you’re a relative newcomer to the area like me, we all have one important thing in common – we love Omena and we want to preserve it.

This year I’m writing to you to ask you to both renew your membership in the Omena Historical Society for 2017 AND to consider a donation to our fledgling endowment fund.

Why Two Donations?

Your Caretaker Dues are critical to OHS to fund day-to-day museum operations and maintenance; everything from turning on the lights, keeping up the building and offering quality educational and training programs as well as ensuring museum visitors have a quality experience.

The new Endowment Fund will allow the museum to set aside money for larger projects, such as major repairs and purchases of important additions to our exhibit collection.
Since this is the beginning of a new year for OHS we want to thank all of you who have volunteered your time to make the Society successful, particularly those who served as board members both past and present, docents, program and property maintenance volunteers. All have contributed greatly to our continued success. Thank you for your dedication. We are very grateful for all your hard work and ongoing commitment to OHS.

With this letter you’ll find copies of our new brochure and promotional card that are being used to encourage museum visits. Please continue your membership in 2017 and if you can, please help us get a jumpstart on building the OHS endowment fund. Enclosed is a return envelope that you can use to send in your check, or you can pay online at the OHS website (omenahistoricalsociety.com) if you prefer. Of course, if you have questions please feel free to give me a call at 616-990-1220 or email me at omenahistoricalsociety@gmail.com.

Sincerely,
Keith Disselkoen
