OMENA MAYOR ELECTION REGULATIONS
Entrants must be living pets of any genus or species that is a year round or summer resident of Omena. Omena residents consist of those residents whose mailing address is an Omena Post Office Box or who considers themselves a resident of “Greater Omena”.
An entry form must be completed and submitted by 5pm Monday, July 9th, 2018. A billboard listing all of the nominees and election information will be placed in front of the Putnam-Cloud Tower House/Omena Historical Society Museum for a time not less than July 10th – July 21, 2018.
Voting will be conducted from Tuesday, July 10th through Thursday, July 19th. Each candidate will have their picture and entry information posted on the election information board. The election information board will also post the top five candidates on a daily basis. Each dollar contributed to OHS in the name of a particular candidate will equal one vote for that candidate. Cash or checks made out to Omena Historical Society are acceptable methods of voting and this year you will also be able to vote securely online via this page. “Chicago” voting rules apply: Vote early and vote often.
In addition to online voting from this web page, there will be one voting place in Omena – a lock box on the election information board in front of the PTCH- Omena Historical Museum. Voting will end at 5pm Thursday, July 19th.
Candidate’s Parade & Announcement of the Winner
On Saturday, July 21st, all mayoral candidates are encouraged to participate in the parade that will take place at 10:00am. The parade will begin on Isthmus and end near the Omena beach. Everyone is invited. The winning candidate will be announced at the end of the parade. The winner does not need to be present or in the parade to be “elected” into office. This is a three year term.
